Premier League Game Week 8 Predictions and Tips

The Premier League is back this weekend. Seven fixtures have made the cut and that means we can enjoy two Friday evening encounters before a further three matches on Saturday and a Sunday double. Champions Manchester City head to Molineux although it’s Arsenal who are still top and they head to Brentford hoping to land another win.

FRIDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER

Aston Villa 20:00 Southampton

Aston Villa will be dismayed not to have played another game straight after a 1-1 draw against Manchester City. However, it was probably their best performance of the season and the defence looks a lot tighter. We still think the draw offers better value than the home win against a Southampton side who will be happy enough to take a point.

BEST BET: Draw

Nottingham Forest 20:00 Fulham

You could either plump for a Fulham win or the Cottagers on the Draw No Bet market depending on how confident you feel. There’s little doubt that the visitors look a stronger outfit right now and the form of Aleksandar Mitrovic has been outstanding. Nottingham Forest were beaten 3-2 at home to Bournemouth in their last game and they can be opposed.

BEST BET: Fulham Draw No Bet

SATURDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER

Wolves 12:30 Man City

Manchester City have to quickly recover from a Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund and perhaps they won’t be able to enjoy an emphatic victory at Molineux. Pep Guardiola’s side have drawn two of their three away games, with the manager likely to rotate his squad after a tough 2-1 victory. Wolves are bidding for a third consecutive victory.

BEST BET: Wolves +2.5

Newcastle 15:00 Bournemouth

Newcastle United are bidding to challenge for a top six spot this season and they should achieve a comfortable victory over a Bournemouth side who don’t have a permanent manager. Eddie Howe comes up against his former club and we’re confident that they’ll achieve a bloodless win against a team likely to set up defensively.

BEST BET: Newcastle + BTTS No

Tottenham 17:30 Leicester City

Tottenham fans are starting to realise that Antonio Conte is adopting a pragmatic approach to matches this season and perhaps they won’t convince against Leicester. Having been beaten 2-0 by Sporting in the Champions League, they could be up against an improved Foxes team who have had chance to arrest some of the defensive issues that have plagued them this season.

BEST BET: Leicester +1.5

SUNDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER

Brentford 12:00 Arsenal

It’s hard to desert a Brentford side who have claimed a 4-0 win over Manchester United or a 5-2 victory against Leeds United. They could continue to be difficult to beat at the Gtech Stadium against an Arsenal side who were defensively exposed when losing 3-1 at Old Trafford last time out. We think that the Bees are good for a point and might even repeat last season’s win.

BEST BET: Brentford or Draw

Everton 14:15 West Ham

We’re leaning towards an Everton win here, especially at the prices. Frank Lampard’s side must surely achieve a victory soon and perhaps they will benefit from meeting a West Ham team who played away in the Europa Conference League on Thursday. Anthony Gordon is looking lively, while Conor Coady and Idrissa Gueye help to give the team a solid spine.

BEST BET: Everton Draw No Bet
