League One Predictions and Tips – 8th January

There is a limited EFL League One schedule of games this Saturday. This is mainly down to a number of teams still in the FA Cup. Although there is a humdinger of a tie taking place at Adams Park. We have Wycombe going up against Sunderland, while Doncaster’s clash against Fleetwood have all the makings of a relegation six-pointer.

Wycombe Wanderers 12:30 Sunderland

Sunderland have been in excellent form recently. The Black Cats thrashed Sheffield Wednesday 5-0 after a 3-0 victory at Doncaster. They might have a tougher encounter against a Wycombe side who have recently been involved in 1-0 scorelines. Gareth Ainsworth’s side will certainly be keen to stop their rampant opponents in their tracks.

Accrington Stanley 15:00 Milton Keynes Dons

Earlier in the season, we would have been recommending Stanley games for Over 2.5 Goals. However, John Coleman’s side have really dumbed things down in recent clashes. A sum total of four goals have been scored in the past four Accrington matches. MK Dons recently played out a goalless draw with Gillingham and might struggle to find the net.

Doncaster Rovers 15:00 Fleetwood Town

Doncaster flew into a 3-0 lead over Morecambe recently and it looked as though Rovers could be on for a morale-boosting victory. However, the Shrimps came back hard to win 4-3 and it leaves Donny rooted to the bottom of the League One table. Fleetwood will be keen to pull away from the drop zone and we’re recommending both sides to score.

Gillingham 15:00 Ipswich Town

Steve Evans is determined that his Gillingham FC side will scrap their way out of the League One relegation zone. Things haven’t been too pretty although a goalless draw at MK Dons brought an end to a six match losing run. The Gills will aim to keep things tight against an inconsistent Ipswich side who are ensconced in mid-table right now. Lincoln City 15:00 Oxford United

Oxford continue to look like League One promotion contenders, with the U’s favourites to win at Sincil Bank. We think the visitors are likely to overcome a Red Imps side who were actually in the play-off final last term, although it’s been tough going for Michael Appleton’s team. The home side are only averaging one point per match this season and we’re going for them to lose a high-scoring clash.
